How do I know if I need therapy?

At Rooted Counseling and Wellness, we understand that starting therapy can bring up a lot of questions. We’re here to provide clarity and guidance. Below are some of the most frequently asked questions about our services and what you can expect from therapy at our locations in Draper and South Jordan Utah.

Are you feeling disconnected from yourself or your loved ones? Are you overwhelmed by current life stressors or find that past experiences are interfering with your ability to connect and function from day to day? Whether you are looking for skills to manage mental health symptoms, insights and healing, or simply a safe place to express yourself, therapy is a great place to start.

Will my health insurance pay for services?

Individual Therapy:  Most health insurance plans do cover mental health therapy. Your plan may require you to pay a co-pay, deducible, or co-insurance (amount due after deductible has been met). We recommend you contact your insurance company to find out about what is covered by your specific plan.

Couples/Family Therapy:  Most plans do not cover couples or family therapy.

Group Therapy:  This also depends on insurance plan. If your plan does not cover group therapy, the cost is $35 per group.

Yoga:  Yoga groups facilitated by a clinician who is a trained Clinical Yoga Practitioner can be billed to insurance. Yoga classes run by a yoga instructor are paid by each participant.

Other Wellness Services:  At this time all wellness services are paid by the client.

What can I expect at my first appointment?

When you enter our office, you’ll enter an calming environment that invites reflection and wellness. We do not have a receptionist to check-in so simply take a seat in the waiting area while you wait for your therapist. Your first session at Rooted Counseling and Wellness will involve getting to know your therapist and discussing your reasons for seeking therapy. This initial meeting is an opportunity to establish a comfortable and trusting relationship with your therapist. This will allow you both to develop a plan tailored to your needs.

How often will I have therapy sessions?

At the beginning of treatment, it’s recommended that you attend sessions weekly. Session may be less frequent depending on need and therapist availability.

What if the therapist I want to meet with is not in-network with my insurance?

If you would like to see a provider who is not in-network with your insurance, we can provide you will a superbill to provide your insurance company to see if they will reimburse you. If you need to see someone in-network we have many other wonderful providers and will work to find the best fit for you.

Can I be a client if I live outside of Utah?

Due to state licensing mandates, clients receiving therapy from Rooted Counseling & Wellness must live in the state of Utah and be located within the state at the time of each appointment. Workshops, classes, coaching, and retreats are available for all to attend, regardless of locale.

What are your hours?

Sessions are by appointment only. Our standard hours are M-TH from 9-5. Some of our providers offer evening hours or F/Sat appointments.

Do you have a waitlist?

Many of providers have a waitlist. Wait times range from 1-4 months. If you would like to meet with a certain provider, contact our Intake Coordinator to be placed on the waitlist of your preferred provider.

Is therapy confidential?

Therapy is covered under the Health Insurance Privacy & Accountability Act (HIPAA). Rooted Counseling & Wellness cannot confirm or deny you involvement in therapy without a client signing a Release of Information. If using insurance, the only information your insurance company will receive is a billing code and diagnose code.

While your privacy is of high importance, please know that a therapist is required by law to report any of the following:

-Suspected abuse or neglect of a minor, dependent adult, or elderly person.

-If a client threatens serious body harm to another person

-If a client expresses intent to harm themselves.

The therapist will make every effort to work in a collaborative way to ensure the safety of the client and others.

Does Rooted Counseling accept EAP benefits?

At this time, we are not contracted provider for any employee assisted program.
